A lovely day here in Toronto, not too hot, brisk yet warm under a sunny sky. Still there is something afoot. A friend gave me the location of a marvelous Asian grocery story, hidden from view and used largely by the local community. I set out on an afternoon adventure to find obscure ingredients for some Chinese cooking. Had to fiddle with my GPS when my car alarm went off and would not stop. Well it took 2 minutes and then when I closed my door it started again! The GPS successfully guided me to the store but the car alarm went off one last time by merely opening the door. I have no idea how to make it stop! Nerves slightly frayed.
My next destination is to drop something off for a friend. Turns out she is not home. Timing off by 30 minutes. Arriving home I try to call and leave a message but get a fax screech sound instead. They don’t have a fax machine. Two more attempts later and I am able to leave a message.
Back at my desk, I am no longer focused. It is taking longer to finish that “To Do” list than anticipated. 30 minutes to find a file only to find it did not have what I am looking for. The optimism generated by a fresh and sunny day is now tempered with some irritation. Fatigue is setting in.
No doubt about it. We are in Mercury retrograde’s shadow.
I need a nap or perhaps an alignment.

Each time Mercury goes retrograde there is a theme or a flavor to it. This year all the Mercury Retrogrades are in water signs. We also have Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces which are water signs. The most interesting thing about this particular Mercury retrograde period is that less than 24 hours before Mercury goes retrograde Jupiter will enter the sign of Cancer (for about a year) – even more water!
Water is about our gut level feelings; the things we just know. We need to be especially mindful at these times to be kind to ourselves as well as others so as not to confuse what we feel with how we act about those feelings.
An important day for tuning into the deep message Mercury might have for you is on July 9 when it conjuncts the Sun. A bit of reflection in the afternoon would go a long way!
