In 2013 all the Mercury retrogrades will be in water signs. First Pisces, then Cancer and lastly, Scorpio. Water is a mysterious and sometimes difficult element for our current world to use well.
The mystery and power of water is in the fact that it’s so internal. It’s about feelings. It’s dark, cold, interior and subjective. When we look out across the water in the ocean or a lake or pond, all we see is the surface. We know there are things going on underneath but we can’t see them unless we make a great effort. It’s the same with feelings. We can see the surface reality of them If, for example someone creates a ‘dark cloud’ wherever they go or even If they bring joy and laughter. But we don’t see without some effort why they are that way. (Often people with a lot of water in their charts can ‘see’ this but we generally train this aspect of perception out of children by denying that they are seeing anything at all.)
The negative realities of water stem from the process we call projection. Feelings are often negative. I feel frightened or resentful. I don’t want to feel that way so I project it on to you. I do something to make you feel that way and then I somehow think I am not feeling it. This is the painful mystery of water; how we see the bad in others and it makes us feel somehow more secure in ourselves. Quite the illusion! It is often the root of hatred and violence in our world. And a major factor in war which naturally makes the ‘other’ the problem.
Given the complexity and power of water I think It Is an exceptional year to use the tool of resonance repatterning to align ourselves, and possibly our world, with the more humane aspects of water.
Mercury trine Uranus
A perfect day for a brilliant idea or even better a brilliant concept shared by a group. We think we own our thoughts; that they belong to us as individuals but truly our minds are inter-connected and thoughts and concepts catch on like wildfire when they speak to a need in the collective psyche.
As Mercury moves forward, uninhibited by the retrograde motion it encourages us to ‘go for it!’
