Mercury Retrograde and Quilting

HPIM0928My new hobby is quilting and I can see how people can leave their day jobs just to do this.  It is very fulfilling.  But Mercury retrograde is upon us and I am looking ahead.  What to do?  I am trying to micro-apply the principles of being aligned with Mercury retrograde. So I am trying to weigh out without being paranoid what would be best to do in the sewing dept during Mercury Retrograde. I have a project cut out and ready to assemble… do I do that since the decision is made and all I am doing is catching up on a project that should have been done a long time ago (last year in fact). I also have lots of fabric to start any number of new projects which is VERY tempting, (but pure instinct now tells me YIKES don’t START a new quilt project even if I have the pattern and fabric already purchased). Do I go into withdrawal and avoid this creative endeavor altogether!  HELP!

    Hi R.Q.
I am not a quilter but i am a crafter and i totally understand your concerns. Given that we are in the shadow of Mercury Retrograde i am not surprised that you are drawn to starting a bunch of new projects. It’s a strange reflex i have seen more than once! My suggestion however, is that you go full tilt into the old project. It’s a very retrograde thing to finish up a project you have prepared and especially because you say it ‘should have been done a long time ago’. As for the new projects… I say wait till the end of May – by which time you will have completed the other project. the bonus to this is that you will be thinking and planning the new projects in your mind while you wait to begin them. this will make you more proficient when you actually take them on. Don’t push them out of your mind. In fact i suggest you do as much planning of the new projects as you want. Just hold back on the first stitch. Meanwhile you will be busy with the old project anyway! Quilt On!

I have paper to finish for a grant, should I send it in now, or wait til Mercury goes direct?

Hi Trish, I’m sorry i didn’t get to this sooner. In typical Mercury Retrograde fashion it went to my ‘spam’ box and i only just checked it this morning! i should probably read spam first when Mercury is Retro…
So what did you do with your grant? if you sent it during the retrograde i would suggest some serious follow up after the 29th. if you waited that’s fine too. but if it’s not to weird and you haven’t heard from them i would even send it again after the 29th. sorry to be so late!
