Mercury is Retrograde December 10th 2010

Watch for the moon eclipse during this Mercury retrograde

Mercury is retrograde in Capricorn and goes back to Sagittarius when it goes direct. There are a lot of tangles in this particular retrograde period. It makes the retrograde station on December 10th very close to Pluto and the North Node as well as Mars. (Mars catches up between the 12th and 15th of December). This indicates that the best of intentions need to be patiently and seriously reconsidered. There could be reasons that we should do this which have to do with far reaching consequences. The sense of ambition to achieve a goal is very strong but the time is not quite yet.

As Mercury travels its retrograde path it will then square Uranus (December 21st) and Jupiter (December 22nd). This reminds us that we are a planet on the brink. On the 21st there is a visible Full Moon eclipse at 2:12 AM, in the last degree of Sagittarius. as well as Winter Solstice at 6:39 PM the same day. This is a strong statement of endings and beginnings. It suggests that we are feeling the tension of changes that must be made but the retrograde feeling is that we are not quite ready.

After Mercury goes direct many of these issues will hopefully resolve themselves with care and consideration of all involved parties.

Does Mercury Retrograde make you anxious?  Repatterning can help. Read our latest blog post.

The energy for all your efforts will flow more smoothly during these times if, where possible you postpone taking new initiatives,  launching new projects, taking major trips, signing contracts or buying big things.  Sometimes of course this is not possible in which case you want to be aware of all the details, do your research and make sure you aren’t acting out of fear or desperation. An astrologer can give you specific details of how this influence will play out in your life.

Generally, it’s a great time to take stock and put things in order.  Remember, to every cycle there is a beginning middle and an end.  To make a smooth transition from one period to the next it is helpful to appreciate where we have been, name our regrets, and revise our plans before moving forward.  Often after a busy period of launching a new project, working extended hours, and pushing the envelope on life, our environment suffers.  Your desk may be a mess, you’ve put off routine maintenance tasks or have not had time to get things fixed.  A Mercury retrograde period can make for a very elegant transition period.  Cleaning out closets and drawers, organizing your home and office, getting things fixed or repaired are all great Mercury retrograde activities. It’s an excellent time to edit your life.

So before starting the next year, use these dates to plot and strategically arrange important events such as  major purchases and significant business initiatives. Use the retrograde periods to actively plan, evaluate, and put life back in order.

Your questions, comments and insights are welcomed.

With love and light,

Carolyn & Julie

Join Julie at the Calendar Launch September 26th

There are countless number of times that I have had a great idea for a calendar that just fizzled at my brow chakra center for good inspirations.  So vicariously I am ever so happy to announce the launch of a calendar by Aligned For Mercury Retrograde’s astrologer – Julie Simmons co-created with her colleague Deirdre Norman.

They describe The Cosmic Mirror as…”a Canadian calendar to help you navigate the above and below of life; Astrology and earth-bound wisdom provide insights into how the year is unfolding. Heaven and Earth come together in this calendar to give you guidance for the year, both personally and globally, and specific information about the cycles of the sun, moon and planets.”

If you live in the Toronto area, Julie and Deirdre would love to meet you.  They are hosting a launch of this new endeavor on Sunday September 26th at one of my favorite shops called Wonder Works.   Coincidentally, around the corner from the shop AND on the same day is the 21st Annual The Word On The Street Festival  .  It should make for a great Sunday outing.   Some come on out!  Here are the details:

The Cosmic Mirror

at Wonderworks. 79A Harbord St., Toronto

Sunday September 26, 1:08 pm

(Spadina and Harbord is the main intersection)

Congratulations to Julie and Deirdre on your lovely creative endeavor.

Carolyn Winter

PS – visit the regular Mercury Retrograde page for information on how to get your copy if you can’t make the launch.

(Venus retrograde – October 8 – November 18! If it’s not one thing, it’s another.)
